About Us
Here at Second Steps Studio, not only do we instruct dance and dance technique,
we also strive to instill character, self- confidence, poise, and lasting friendships.

Emily Conner
-INSTRUCTOR - Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Team Director
Miss Emily is going into her 24th year as a dancer, and 5th year as a teacher! She grew up dancing at a studio in upstate New York where she attended multiple competitions and conventions throughout New Jersey, NYC, and Pennsylvania until she migrated down south to Shorter University where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre in 2020. Her favorite style of dance is ballet, but is trained in and teaches ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and technique classes. Her favorite part of teaching is watching students become more confident not just in their dance abilities, but also in themselves as people. She is so excited to get to have another year of teaching under her belt!
Paula Remsen
OWNER
-INSTRUCTOR- CREATIVE MOVEMENT,BALLET, PRE-POINTE AND POINTE
Ms. Paula has been dancing since she was a young girl. Competing in ballet at the early age of six, life has come full circle and she is now fulfilling the dream of owning her own studio. She loves to work with children and actually says that "being a mom was her calling." Paula has been involved with several dance companies throughout her youth and a member of the dance company during her adult years at The University of Mississippi. She has been an instructor for the past 16 years at Second Steps Studio, and owner for the last 9 years concentrating in Ballet and Pointe .


Baylee Davenport
-INSTRUCTOR- TAP, BALLET & JAZZ
Miss Baylee is a former student of Second Steps, she danced 9 years with us! Miss Baylee will be starting in October with Atrium Vascular Surgery as a Nurse Practitioner! She graduated this past May with her Doctorate of Nurse Practitioner degree. Outside of teaching dance, Miss Baylee loves to work out, play with her dog Oakley, and spend time with her family!
Mylee Tims
-INSTRUCTOR- CREATIVE MOVEMENT,BALLET, TAP, AND JAZZ
Mylee began dancing at the age of two years old. She trained in ballet for the first five years of her dance journey. By her sixth year she quickly picked up jazz, lyrical, and tap. At age 10, she joined a competitive dance team. At 12, she began training for pointe. Throughout her dance journey Mylee developed a passion for choreography. this passion allows her to share the love for dance and the discipline it produces.


Emily Lujano
-INSTRUCTOR- BALLET AND TAP
Emily danced at Second Steps for 10 years and is excited to return for her first year as an instructor. Her favorite styles of dance are tap, jazz, and lyrical. Emily strives to create a fun, positive, and encouraging environment where every dancer can grow in confidence and enjoy the art of dance. She is honored to be back at the studio that helped shape her love of dance and looks forward to making memories with her students this season.
Rylee Mathis
-INSTRUCTOR- TAP
Miss Rylee spent 15 years dancing at Second Steps and is so excited to be back for her fourth year as a teacher! After graduating from Jacksonville State University, she is also beginning her first year as a 4th grade teacher at Bremen Academy. Tap has always been her favorite style of dance, and she loves getting to teach at the studio where she first fell in love with dancing. Miss Rylee is passionate about helping her students grow, build confidence, and have fun in the classroom and the dance studio. She can't wait for another amazing season with her Second Steps family!


Jazper
(Mr. Jazzy)
STUDIO MASCOT
Jazper (Mr. Jazzy) is so excited to be representing Second Steps Studio! Jazper specializes in tail-wags, twirls, and keeping spirits high. Whether it's hip hop or ballet, he loves cheering on the dancers. When not at the studio, Jazper enjoys belly rubs, treats, and perfecting his next "Paw de Deux".
